What is URANYL CHLORIDE?
Chemical properties
bright yellow crystal(s); ortho-rhomb; very hygroscopic; very volatile >775°C [MER06]
The Uses of URANYL CHLORIDE
Uranyl chloride is a greenish yellow poisonous flake that was prepared by dissolving uranic oxide in hydrochloric acid. It is soluble in water and alcohol. Uranyl chloride was occasionally used as a halide for printing-out paper and added to chloride emulsions to increase contrast.
Safety Profile
Poison by intraperitoneal route. A radoactive material. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Cl-. See also URANIUM.
