What is Sodium tetrasulfide?
Chemical properties
Yellow, hygroscopic crystals or clear, dark-red liquid.
The Uses of Sodium tetrasulfide
Reducing organic nitro compounds, manufac- ture of sulfur dyes, insecticides and fungicides, ore flotation, soaking hides and skins, preparation of metal sulfide finishes.
The Uses of Sodium tetrasulfide
For reducing organic nitro compounds, in the manufacture of sulfur dyes, in ore flotation, and in the preparation of metal sulfide finishes. It is involved in the production of cross-linking agents such as bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)tetrasulfide. It acts as a precursor for certain specialty polymers and intermediates in prototypes of the sodium-sulfur battery.
Hazard
Fire risk when exposed to flame. Irritant to skin and tissue.
