What is Sodium iodate?
Chemical properties
white crystalline powder
The Uses of Sodium iodate
Sodium iodate is used in animal feed, food industry. It is utilized in the manufacture of disinfectants, antiseptics and deodorants. It acts as a significant part in the oxidation of aromatic, aliphatic, and alicyclic thiols. Potassium tetrahydroborate and sodium iodate in acidic aqueous solution react with cadmium to generate chemical vapor, which is useful for atomic fluorescence spectrometry application.
The Uses of Sodium iodate
Antiseptic, disinfectant, feed additive reagent.
Definition
ChEBI: Sodium iodate is an organic molecular entity.
Hazard
Oxidizing agent, fire risk near organic mate- rials.
Flammability and Explosibility
Not classified
Purification Methods
Crystallise sodium iodate from water (3mL/g) by cooling.
