What is Radium Thionates?
Description
Radium dithionate would have the molecular
formula of RaS2O4 and the molecular weight of grams
per mole. The “thionite” and “thionate” salts of radium
would include:
Radium dithionite=RaS2O4
Radium dithionate=RaS2O6
Radium tetrathionate=RaS4O6
Radium dithionite, BaS2O4, could be prepared by the
reaction of radium chloride with sodium dithonite:
RaCl2+ Na2S2O4 ? RaS2O4+ 2NaCl
Radium tetrathionate could be prepared by reaction
of barium thiosulfate with iodine:
2RaS2O3
+ I2 ? RaS4O6
+ BaI2
However, there is absolutely no industrial or domestic
usage for these compounds and it is doubtful that they
have been, or ever will be, prepared.
