The Uses of NONYL FORMATE
Nonyl formate has been used in perfume compositions for its interesting effect in Oriental fragrance types, particularly in combination with Olibanum. It is occasionally used in Chypre types or as part of a topnote complex for Rose, Orris and Oriental fragrances.
Synthesis
Nonyl formate is prepared by azeotropic esterification of nNonanol with Formic acid.
