EPA is capable of suppressing vascular smooth muscle proliferation. It ameliorates pulmonary hypertension by preventing Fyn kinase activity. EPA exhibits a beneficial effect on lipid metabolism. It is used to treat hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis.
