What is DEHYDRONANTENINE?
Description
The tree bark of Nandina domestica elaborates this alkaloid which forms colourless crystals from EtOH. The structure has been established from ultraviolet and NMR spectroscopy, particularly the application of the nuclear Overhauser effect. Additional confirmation of the above structure has been provided by the synthesis of the alkaloid by dehydrogenation of O-methyldomesticine.
