The Uses of Calcium sulfide (Ca(Sx))
Calcium sulfide (Ca(Sx)) can be used to control diseases such as powdery mildew and rust of crops and fruit trees, as well as cotton spider mites, etc. In recent years, it has been used in the field of chromium pollution remediation, and the process of reducing Cr(VI) to Cr(III) does not change the pH value of the water body.
Synthesis
Calcium sulfide (Ca(Sx)) is boiled with quicklime, sulfur and water. First mix the sulfur powder with a small amount of water into a paste, slowly pour it into the water and heat it to boil, add quicklime after boiling, stir while pouring, keep boiling for 50-60 minutes, until the color of the solution in the pot turns reddish-brown. The residue starts to turn green to get the product.
