What is BARIUM PERIODATE?
Preparation
Barium Periodate can be prepared by the reaction of periodic acid on
barium hydroxide:
Ba(OH)2＋ 2HIO4→Ba(IO4)2
Barium Periodate is relatively insoluble and can be removed from solution by filtration. It is a white powder and is a strong oxidizing agent
that will explode if mixed with organics or other oxidizable
compounds.
