Chemical properties
Grey-white powder, which becomes darker after storage. The pure product (free amine) has a melting point of 20-22 °C and a boiling point of 238.5 °C. Easily soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents; soluble in hot water and evaporated with water vapor.
The Uses of 2-AMINO-4-CHLOROTOLUENE HYDROCHLORIDE
5-Chloro-2-methylaniline Hydrochloride is mainly used as a color developer for dyeing and printing of cotton, silk and nylon fiber fabrics, and can be used to prepare fast pigments.
Synthesis
Using p-toluidine as raw material, 5-Chloro-2-methylaniline Hydrochloride is obtained by nitration, diazotization, chlorination, reduction, salt formation, and then filtration and drying.
