Chemical properties
Yellowish to white powder. 1,7-Naphthalenediol [575-38-2], mp 181℃, is prepared by caustic fusion of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid at 300℃ or by acid desulfonation of 2,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-6- sulfonic acid. It couples with diazotized anilines to form monoazo and disazo derivatives.
