What is ZIZYPHININE?

Description

Also present in Zizyphus aenoplia Mill., this peptide alkaloid is an amorphous powder with no definite melting point. It has [α]24/sup>D - 247° (c 1.0, CHCl3) and the ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH exhibits absorption maxima at 267 and 320 ITlJ.1. The alkaloid is characterized as the hydrochloride monohydrate, m.p. 242-3°C (dec.) and the hydriodide, m.p. l72.5-173.5°C.
