Occurrence

A pyrrolizidine alkaloid, yamataimine occurs in the methanolic extract of Cacalia yatabei roots. It forms colourless needles when crystallized from Me2CO-light petroleum and is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D +63.6°(EtOH).
