What is VULRACINE?
Description
This alkaloid, which is isomeric with bervulcine, occurs in Berberis vulgaris. It is laevorotatory having a specific rotation of [α]24D - 1140 (c 0.2, CHC13 ). When crystallized from Et2O it forms colourless needles which are soluble in all organic solvents. There is no colour reaction with concentrated mineral acids.
