Description

Also present in Decodon verticillatus L., this base forms colourless crystals from MeOH. The ultraviolet spectrum is identical with that of the preceding alkaloid with an absorption maximum at 293 mtJ.. The following salts and derivatives have been prepared; hydrochloride, m.p. 240°C (dec.); [α]_D + 119° (c 1.93, MeOH); dimethyl derivative, m.p. 243-5°; [α]_D + 159° (c 1.59, CHCI3) and the diacetyl compound, m.p. 176-8°C; [α]_D + 36° (c 2.41, CHCl3)
