What is Vaillantine?

Description

Isolated from Fumaria vaillantii Loisl., this base forms colourless crystals when purified by recrystallization from Me2CO-MeOH. It forms the O:O-dimethyl ether as colourless needles, m.p. l74-5°C and has been shown by spectroscopic methods to be 2: 3-didemethylmuramine.
