The Uses of trypanothione
A major function of trypanothione is in the defence against oxidative stress. Trypanothione-dependent enzymes such as tryparedoxin peroxidase (TryP) reduce peroxides using electrons donated either directly from trypanothione, or via the redox intermediate tryparedoxin.
