Chemical properties
Colorless and transparent platelets or white rhombus crystals. Easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is neutral or weakly alkaline; slightly soluble in dilute ammonia; insoluble in liquid ammonia, acetone, ethanol and ether.
The Uses of TRI-AMMONIUM PHOSPHATE TRIHYDRATE
Ammonium phosphate is a high-concentration nitrogen and phosphorus compound fertilizer for sugarcane growth. Also it is used as wood fire retardant, water softener for water treatment, biological culture agent, and analytical chemical reagent.
Preparation
Ammonium phosphate was prepared by reacting diammonium hydrogen phosphate with 27%~28% ammonia water:
(NH4)2HPO4+NH4OH→(NH4)3PO4+H2O
