What is Silver nanospheres ?

The Uses of Silver nanospheres

Silver nanomaterials have unique physical, chemical and optical properties that are currently being leveraged for a wide variety of biological applications. A resurgence of interest in the utility of silver as a broad based antimicrobial agent has led to the development of hundreds of products that incorporate silver nanoparticles to prevent bacterial growth on surfaces. Additionally, silver nanoparticles have an optical color that is a function of the silver nanoparticle′s size and shape. The strong coupling of silver nanoparticles to specific wavelengths of incident light can be utilized to develop ultrabright reporter molecules, highly efficient thermal absorbers, and nanoscale "antennas" that can amplify the strength of the local electromagnetic field.

The Uses of Silver nanospheres

Owing to their plasmonic properties nanoparticles of gold and silver find broad range of applications extending from diagnostics to molecular detection, photothermal and microwave-based therapies, and nanotoxicology. Colloidal silver nanoparticles also find applications in antimicrobial coatings, electronics and photovoltaics, and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) whereas the colloidal gold nanoparticles find applications in lateral flow assays (immunochromatographic assays) and as TEM labels and size standards.

Our Econix nanospheres contain PVP (40 kD polyvinylpyrrolidone) as excipient. The PVP enhances stability and dispersibility of Econix silver nanospheres. These dried powders are redispersible in a variety of polar solvents such as water, alcohols, DMF, and DMSO. However, they show medium dispersibility in chloroform, and low dispersibility in dichloromethane. Econix materials are unagglomerated, low cost silver nanospheres and are ideal for applications requiring large quantities.

General Description

Store products away from light at 4-6°C. Short periods at room temperature are acceptable however, lower temperature storage prolongs the shelf life of the product. DO NOT FREEZE.
