What is SALATIFOLINE?

Description

From the crude basic mixture of glycoalkaloids isolated from Solanum platanifolium, this base has been obtained by chromatographic separation. It is widely distributed in the plant, being found, together with solasonine, in the roots, stems, leaves, seeds and fruit. The X-ray diffraction pattern of this alkaloid did not correspond to that of any other known glycoalkaloid and chemical investigation has revealed it to be a glucose-galactose, rhamnose containing glycoside of solasodine.
