What is QUIMBELINE?
Description
Voacanga chalotiana yields this complex alkaloid which furnishes colourless prisms from EtOH-Et20. It has a specific rotation of [α]D - 195° (c 1.0, CHCI3) and the ultraviolet spectrum in MeOH consists of absorption maxima at 221, 263,301 and 327 nm. The structure is based upon 13C-NMR spectra and comparison with that of vobtusine.
