These compounds may be used for highly stereoselective reductions, e.g., of ketones . Chemical rearrangements induced by potassium hydride are important in organic chemistry. Furthermore, in combination with other reagents potassium hydride acts as a catalyst in the polymerization of alkenes and dienes.
