What is ORMOSAJINE?

Description

Orrnosia jarnaidiensis Urb. also yields this alkaloid which is a stereoisomer of Pan amine (q.v.) also present in Orrnosia species. The base is normally obtained as the crystalline tetrahydrate having the melting point given above. It is dextro_x0002_rotatory with [α]D+ 23°. On catalytic hydrogenation it furnishes dasycarpine (q.v.). The diperchlorate is crystalline with m.p. l70-loC.
