It i an opener/activator of the large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channel (Bkca).

NS 1619 is a selective large conductance Ca2+-activated K+-channel activator. The compound is known for its vasodilating and anti-proliferative properties. It is studied that NS 1619 can protect cardiac muscle against ischemia and reperfusion injury.
