Colorless transparent liquid. The melting point is 243-245°C, the boiling point is 120-135°C (2kPa), and the refractive index is 1.444-1.448 (20°C). Soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. There is an acetamide odor.

N,n-di-n-butylacetamide can be used for organic synthesis, also used as extractant.
Synthesis
N,n-di-n-butylacetamide is derived from the condensation of acetyl chloride and di-n-butylamine.
