What is N(a)-METHYLSARPAGINE?

Description

This alkaloid occurs in the roots of Pleiocarpa mutica as the methochloride which forms colourless crystals from MeOH, m.p. 275-280°C; [α]26D + 56° ± 12° (c 0.174, CHCI3). The methopicrate has also been prepared, m.p. 124°C (dec.). This last salt is best crystallized from aqueous Me2CO
