Permethrinic Acid Methyl Ester is an impurity of the insecticide Permethrin (P288500), which is synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with low mammalian toxicity. Permethrinic Acid Methyl Ester is also used as a reactant in preperation of β-ketoesters via sodium hydroxide catalyzed crossed Claisen condensation of ketene silyl acetals and methyl esters.
