What is Longimammamine?
Description
A further base obtained from the alkaloidal extract of Doticothele longimamma, the structure has been shown to be that given above which is based upon chemical analysis and spectroscopic investigations. The free base is difficult to 0 btain in a crystalline form but it has been characterized as the hydrochloride which forms whitish crystals having m.p. 224-8°C. This salt is optically active with a specific rotation of [α]25D - 60° and gives an ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH with two absorption maxima at 216 and 279 nm.
