What is LOCHROVICINE?

Description

Also present in Vinca rosea L., this alkaloid is laevorotatory with [α]²⁵_D - 345° (c 1.0, CHCI3) and crystallizes from MeOH in the form of colourless prisms. It has the ultraviolet spectrum typical of these bases with absorption maxima at 225, 298 and 326 mJ.1. The structure is not yet known with certainty although it appears to be of the usual imidazolidinocarbazole type.
