What is LAURIFININE?
Description
This minor alkaloid obtained from the leaves of Cocculus laurifolia has been shown to be the N-methyl-O-demethyl derivative of the preceding base. It is also optically inactive in EtOH and forms a crystalline perchlorate, m.p. 243-SoC giving an ultraviolet spectrum in MeOH with absorption maxima at 223 and 284 nm. Treatment with CH2N2 yields laurifonine.
