  • Molecular Weight: 0

What is LATERICINE?

Description

An alkaloid found in several species of Papaver, this base is dextrorotatory with[α]22D+ 40° ± 3° (c 0.521, pyridine) and ± 93° ± 3° (c 0.555, EtOH). Hydrolysis with dilute H2S04 yields D-xylose and the aglycone, m.p. 134-6°C; [α]22D + 60° ± 10° (c 0.648, CHC13)' The structure has been established from such chemical reactions and spectroscopic evidence as 7β-D-xylosido-7 -demethylarmepavine
