What is ISOVOACRISTINE?

Description

This amorphous indole alkaloid has been isolated from Tabernaemontana lauri_x0002_folia. It has [α]28D - 19.6° (CHC13 ) and forms a stable crystalline compound with dimethyl sulphoxide, m.p. 1 04-7°C. The free alkaloid has an ultraviolet spectrum in MeOH which shows two absorption maxima at 227 and 297 mil. It yields a crystalline picrate as pale yellow needles, m.p. 211-3°C and the 0- benzoyl derivative, m.p. 190-1 0 C.
