The Uses of HEPTAMETHYLDISILAZANE
Methanamine, 1,1-Bis(trimethylsilyl) is reagent used for the preparation of N-bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl amines, imines, as a synthetic equivalent of N-methyl, N- (trimethylsilyl)methyl carbanion, and [N-CH] dianion synthons, as an N-protecting group.
Preparation
It is prepared by lithium metal mediated reductive silylation of trimethylsilyl cyanide.
