Chemical properties
Off-White Solid
The Uses of ETAZOLATE
Etazolate Hydrochloride is an acyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor, which also exhibits antidepressant-like activity in acute and chronic mouse and rat model of depression.
The Uses of ETAZOLATE
PDE inhibitor
The Uses of ETAZOLATE
An inhibitor of phosphodiesterase IV, about 8 times more active for cAMP than cGMP.
Definition
ChEBI: Etazolate is a pyrazolopyridine that is 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine which is substituted at positions 1, 4, and 5 by ethyl, 2-isopropylidenehydrazino, and ethoxycarbonyl groups, respectively. A phosphodiesterase IV inhibitor with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties. It has a role as a neuroprotective agent, an antipsychotic agent, a phosphodiesterase IV inhibitor, an anxiolytic drug, an antidepressant, an alpha-secretase activator and a GABA agent. It is a hydrazone, an ethyl ester and a pyrazolopyridine.
Biological Activity
Phosphodiesterase inhibitor, selective for PDE4 (IC 50 = 2.0 μ M).
