Cryptopine is an opium alkaloid that has antibacterial activity.
Purification Methods
It crystallises from *benzene, hot EtOH (0.25% cold, 1.2% at boiling), pet ether or methyl ethyl ketone. The perchlorate crystallises from aqueous MeOH with m 226-228o(dec). [Thomas et al. Can J Chem 33 570 1955, Howarth & Perkin J Chem Soc 1769 1926, Beilstein 27 III/IV 6652.]
