What is Cefetamet pivoxil hydrochloride?
Description
Cefetamet pivoxil hydrochloride, an ester prodrug of cefetamet, is an orally active cephalosporin introduced for the treatment of community-acquired respiratory and urinary tract infections. Roche indicated that this drug will possibly be the first third-generation cephalosporin to be launched in some counrries. It is reportedly useful in penicillin-resistant pneumococci, gonococci and H. influenzae infections, but ineffective against Staphylococci, P. aeruginosa and some non-fermenters.
