Purification Methods
Recrystallise it from Me2CO. It forms 1:2 and 1:3 metal/ligand complexes with Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions, respectively, and induces selectivity in membranes for Ca2+ over Mg2+ by a factor of ca 104. [Pretsch et al. Helv Chim Acta 63 191 1980, Simon & Carafoli Methods Enzymol 56 439 1977.]
