Calcium acetate monohydrate is a white powder or granules or needles. Solubfe 33% in water. Slightly soluble in alcohol. Insoluble in perfume and flavor oils. Decomposes when heated. Virtually odorless, but hydrolysis by moisture yields mild acetic odor. Sweet, bland taste.

Calcium acetate monohydrate is used to precipitate oxalates in solution. It is used to control the phosphate levels in blood, thereby controlling the bone problems. It is also involved in the neutralization of fluoride in water. Further, it is used as a food additive mainly in candy products. In addition to this, it serves as a stabilizer, buffer and sequestrant.

What are the applications of Application

Calcium acetate monohydrate is used as an additive (sequestrant) to beverages and baked goods. Concentrations are about 200 ppm in beverages and up to 500 ppm in baked goods.

General Description

Calcium acetate monohydrate is calcium salt of acetic acid. Crystals study reveals the structure to be triclinic. Its solubility in aqueous solution over a range of temperature has been studied.

Purification Methods
