Preparation
preparation by demethylation of 3,3′-dich-loro-4,4′-di-methoxybenzophenone (SM) with pyridinium chloride at 210° for 20 min (84%). SM was obtained by chlorination of 4,4′-dimethoxybenzophenone with sulfuryl chloride in methylene chloride at 45° for 5 h.
