Basic Red 46 is an azo-dye used in fluorescence studies as well as a potential additive to sustainable hair dyes.
Preparation
5-Amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid diazo and N-methyl-N-benzylaniline?coupling, and then the decarboxylation and quaternary ammonium salt.
Contact allergens
This monoazoic textile dye seems to be an important cause of foot dermatitis, being a frequent allergen in acrylic socks. It caused contact dermatitis in two workers in the textile industry.
Properties and Applications

Mainly used in acrylic fiber, fiber and scattered the dyeing wool terylen article, also can be used for direct printing.
