Asialofetuin from fetal calf serum is suitable for use:
- in the assay of the lactose binding activity of the galectin-7 by immunodetection of in situ binding activity to asialofetuin immobilized on nitrocellulose
- in the inhibition of zona pellucida hardening of mouse oocytes
- as an acceptor in sialyltransferase enzyme activity assay
Biochem/physiol Actions
Feutins are glycoproteins that belong to the cystatin superfamily. They are characterized by the presence of two tandemly arranged cystatin-like domains and an unrelated domain. It binds to transforming growth factor (TGF)-β/BMP (bone morphogenic protein) cytokines.
