What is ALKALOID DB-A?
Description
A recent investigation of the alkaloids of Delphinium bicolor Nutt. has resulted in the isolation of two comparatively simple aconine-type bases. This alkaloid is present only in trace amounts and has been characterized as the hydriodide which forms colourless crystals from CHC13 that melt above 240°C. The free base is an amorphous powder having no definite melting point. It is optically active having a specific rotation of [α]D24 + 10° (CHC13). The structure has been established by spectroscopic methods, and has recently been revised to that given above.
