What is 8-CYCLOHEXADECANONE?
Chemical properties
8-CYCLOHEXADECANONE is a viscous, clear, colorless to slightly yellow liquid with an
elegant, fine, erogenous musk odor with a unique, sweet, powdery nitro musk
undertone and balsamic, tobacco-like shades.
Due to its excellent stability and long-lasting properties, it is recommended for
nearly all perfumery applications, especially for fine fragrances, personal care, and
fabric care perfumes.
(E/Z)-8-Cyclohexadecenone is manufactured by monoepoxidation of
1,9-cyclohexadecadiene and subsequent rearrangement of the epoxide to the
ketone. The starting material, 1,9-cyclohexadecadiene, is obtained from
two molecules of cyclooctene by a metathesis reaction.
The Uses of 8-CYCLOHEXADECANONE
