5(6)-Carboxyeosin diacetate is a useful phosphorescent probe or photosensitizer. Characterized by a high quantum yield for singlet oxygen generation, thereby making it an effective photooxidizer of diaminobenzidine (DAB). Suitable as fluorogenic substrate for esterases.
