4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-4-oxobutyric Acid is an intermediate of pimobendan.
Synthesis
Using 1-(α-bromopropionyl)-4-chlorobenzene and diethyl malonate to generate 2-carboxy-3-(4-chlorobenzoyl) butyric acid, which is heated and decarboxylated to obtain 4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-3-methyl-4-oxobutyric Acid.
