Description
2,4-Diethyl-1,5-pentane (DEPD), is a branched-chain liquid diol with two primary hydroxyl groups. The substance can be synthesized from ethylhexenal and formaldehyde followed by hydrogenation. The diol is expected to impart polyester resins flflexibility, hydrolytic resistance, and reduced crystallinity. Other applications include lubricating oil, plasticizers, rosin resins, and cosmetics.
