Preparation by partial methylation of 2,4,6-tri-hydroxyphenyl 4-methoxybenzyl ketone,
? with dimethyl sulfate in the presence of potassium carbonate in refluxing acetone, for 3 h (64%);
? with diazomethane in ethyl ether at 0° (80%) or in methanol;
? with methyl iodide in the presence of potassium carbonate in refluxing acetone for 3 h (42%).
