PAF is a potent phospholipid activator and mediator of many leukocyte functions, including platelet aggregation, inflammation, and anaphylaxis. It has a role as an antihypertensive agent, a beta-adrenergic antagonist, a hematologic agent, a vasodilator agent and a bronchoconstrictor agent.
