Description
Acetic acid is one of the simplest carboxylic acids with the chemical formula CH₃COOH. It appears as a clear colorless liquid with a strong odor of vinegar. Acetic acid has a role as a protic solvent, a food acidity regulator, an antimicrobial food preservative and a Daphnia magna metabolite. It is an important chemical reagent and industrial chemical that is used in the production of plastic soft drink bottles, photographic film; and polyvinyl acetate for wood glue, as well as many synthetic fibres and fabrics.
