Description
Sodium hydroxide is a white, noncombustible solid that absorbs moisture from the air. It can react violently with strong acids and with water. NaOH is corrosive. Sodium hydroxide is used to help manufacture a variety of medicines and pharmaceutical products, including aspirin, anticoagulants and cholesterol-reducing medications. It is used to make soap and as a main ingredient in household products such as liquid drain cleaners.
